MEDIA RELEASE: Leukaemia Foundation Solar Installation

Today marks the launch of an installation of a 11.88kW solar PV system, 2 LG Chem batteries and Reposit energy management technologies on the Leukaemia Foundation building, ACT.

This installation was made possible through various collaborative partners supporting this innovative $40,000 project include Canberra’s leading Medical Charity the John James Foundation, ActewAGL via its Solar Grants Program,  ACT Government via its Next Generation Energy Storage Grants, SolarHub by contributing probono construction, coordination and certification works and Reposit Power, for their energy management technologies designed to support local energy networks when energy supply demands are seasonally increased.

Benn Masters, SolarHub CEO said “This project has captured the generosity of local collaborators, working together to develop a system that will enable the centre to be self-sufficient. By minimising electricity costs it allows for the funds to be re-purposed toward important respite accommodation and support services delivered by the Leukaemia Foundation Australia.”

SolarHub recognise the like-minded values of the John James Foundation, who maintain a charter to integrate sustainable green energy production and storage across all of its current and future health facilities supporting the Canberra community, with The Leukaemia Foundation installation marking the 1000th battery sold in the ACT under the Next Generation Energy Storage Grant.

“SolarHub are proud to have been involved in the ACT Government’s Next Generation Energy Storage Grant from the beginning and have- installed over 50% of all batteries in the ACT. These batteries utilise the technologies from Reposit Power, connecting to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) which offers great grid stability and better financial returns. These factors help reduce the payback period, which is estimated to be only 4.5 years for the Leukaemia Foundation building.” Benn Masters said.

The installation was launched by Shane Rattenbury, MLA, ACT Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability and Joe Roff (John James Foundation).
